Privacy Tiers

Privacy Tiers are tags that are applied to Text Collections’ Namespaces, Embedding Clients, LLM Clients and Scripts. Privacy Tiers are designed to help you manage the privacy of your data, and to help you manage the risk of data leakage.

Montag evaluates any object or interface capable of interacting with data from a Text Collection or from an external party in terms of it’s privacy ranking. If a resource is used from a higher privcacy tier on a lower-tier LLM Client (for example, cutomer data with a public API like OpenAI), then Montag will dissallow that configuration.

Privacy Tiers all have a Weight property, lower values are less-private, and higher values are more private. Montag will auto-create three privacy tiers for you when you first start the application.
